US President Donald Trump has lashed out at Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance on Sunday night, calling it “disgusting” and “a slap in the face to our country.”
Mr Trump posted his reaction on Truth Social shortly after the Puerto Rican rapper took the stage during the Super Bowl LX halftime show.
“The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER!” he wrote.

“It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence.”
“Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World,” he continued.
“This ‘Show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ to our Country, which is setting new standards and records every single day — including the Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in History!”
Mr Trump went on to say, “There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven’t got a clue of what is going on in the REAL WORLD — And, by the way, the NFL should immediately replace its ridiculous new Kickoff Rule. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
Despite the criticism, Bad Bunny’s halftime show avoided overt political commentary and has been hailed as one of the greatest halftime shows ever. His performance, which featured themes of love and unity, included a tribute to Latin America and the United States.
He closed the show with a series of Latin American flags displayed on stage, saying, “God bless America, be it Chile, Argentina,” and other Spanish-speaking nations, before ending with “my motherland, Puerto Rico,” in both English and Spanish.
Behind him, a massive video board read, “The Only Thing More Powerful Than Hate is Love.”
Before the game, Mr Trump had already voiced his displeasure about the halftime lineup. In a January interview with the New York Post, he called both Bad Bunny and pre-game performers Green Day “terrible” choices.
“I’m anti-them,” he said. “I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.”
The Super Bowl, featuring the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks, aired live Sunday from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Just a week earlier, Bad Bunny used his platform at the 2026 Grammys to speak out against US immigration enforcement, calling attention to ICE policies and urging compassion for immigrant communities.
“Before I say thanks to god, I’m going to say ICE out,” he declared to a standing ovation.
“We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens, we are humans and we are Americans.”
“The only thing stronger than hate is love,” he continued.
“So please, we need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love. If we don’t hate them, we love our people, we love our family, that’s the way to do it. We love. Thank you!”
The singer sat in his chair covering his eyes for a good 15 seconds after being announced the winner of album of the year for Debi Tirar Mas Fotos., before being handed the award by Harry Styles.
He delivered majority of his acceptance speech in Spanish but had this to say in English: “I want to dedicate this award to all the people who had to leave their homeland, their country, to follow their dreams.”
