Sonam Kapoor wore a navy velvet gown by Alaïa for an evening marking her announcement as Lancôme’s first-ever South Asian brand ambassador. The dress falls straight to the floor, long and uninterrupted, with its most defining feature concentrated at the neckline.
The neckline runs wide across the shoulders, dipping gently at the front and opening further across the back. Seen from different angles, the cut shifts how the dress reads, drawing attention repeatedly to the upper frame rather than the body of the gown itself.
Velvet gives the surface a low sheen that changes subtly under light. Styled by Rhea Kapoor with Sanya Kapoor, the look is finished with Amrapali Jewels drop earrings, a Golecha’s Jewels ring, and a Chopard watch.
Hiral Bhatia leaves her hair loose while Namrata Soni softly shades her lids in warm brown tones with lined eyes, flushed cheeks and a muted nude lip.

“Like Sonam Kapoor, opt for a rich velvet gown in a darker hue to create a refined evening vibe that still feels comfortable during pregnancy. Choose an off-shoulder silhouette to draw the eye upward and balance your proportions beautifully. Keep accessories and makeup minimal so the outfit remains the focal point without feeling heavy,” says Vogue India fashion associate Divya Balakrishnan.
