The Sony Music Entertainment-owned entertainment company Aniplex has acquired Egg Firm, an anime production and management company that was founded in 2015. Aniplex says that Egg Firm will become a wholly-owned subsidiary, and that its business activities will remain unchanged.
Egg Firm’s activities include planning, production, production management, funding, and advertising for anime and games. It has been credited with “produce,” a katakana-written credit separate from animation production or production (the one usually written with the kanji 製作 and used for production committees), for anime like Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, Ruri Rocks, and Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?
The CEO and founder of Egg Firm, Nobuhiro Osawa, was previously from GENCO, which engages in similar ventures.
Last March, Aniplex teamed up with Crunchyroll for the joint venture HAYATE Inc., which will be involved in “planning, developing, and producing anime content for the Crunchyroll streaming service available worldwide.”
