Just hours after Carlos Alcaraz clinched the 2026 Australian Open title in Melbourne overnight, Channel 9 has already made its next major tennis play, locking in one of the sport’s most prized events for the long haul.
The broadcaster has confirmed it has secured the exclusive Australian broadcast rights to The Championships, Wimbledon through to 2029, extending its long standing partnership with the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
The multi year agreement spans free-to-air broadcast on the Nine Network, free streaming and catch up on 9Now, and comprehensive subscription coverage via Stan Sport.

The extension further strengthens Nine’s position as the Home of Tennis in Australia, with the broadcaster now holding rights to all four Grand Slam tournaments. Alongside Wimbledon, Nine’s portfolio includes the Australian Open, Roland Garros and the US Open.
Nine Chief Executive Officer Matt Stanton said the deal reflects the long term value of premium sport delivered at scale across multiple platforms.
“Wimbledon is one of the most prestigious properties in global sport, and securing its long term future with Nine is an important outcome for the Group.”
Managing Director of Streaming and Broadcast at Nine, Amanda Laing said the agreement reflects how the network approaches major sporting events beyond a single broadcast window.
“Through the 9Network, 9Now and Stan Sport, our role is to make Wimbledon accessible, immersive and relevant for Australian audiences, wherever and however they choose to watch.”
From the tournament’s perspective, the All England Lawn Tennis Club welcomed the extension, citing Nine’s reach and multi platform offering as key to the ongoing partnership.
“Nine’s free to air reach, combined with its powerful multi platform offering, will ensure Wimbledon continues to be experienced by millions of fans across Australia.”

Under the renewed agreement, Nine will continue to deliver live and free coverage on the Nine Network and 9Now, alongside extensive streaming, highlights and on demand offerings on Stan Sport, including 4K UHD where available.
Wimbledon will continue to be available across the 9Network, 9Now and Stan Sport in 2026 under the existing rights agreement.
