The federal government on Friday increased the price of high speed diesel by Rs. 11.30 per litre, while keeping petrol prices unchanged for the next 15 days, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy.
The revised prices will take effect from February 1, 2026, following recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority.
Under the new rates, the price of high speed diesel has been fixed at Rs. 268.38 per litre, up from the previous Rs. 257.08 per litre.
Diesel is widely used in transport, agriculture and industry, and any increase typically has broader inflationary implications.
In contrast, the government has decided to keep the price of motor spirit unchanged at Rs. 253.17 per litre for the upcoming fortnight.
The notification said the revised prices will remain in force for the next 15 days, after which they will be reviewed again in line with prevailing market conditions.
