Pakistan Demolish Australia to Clinch T20 Series After 7 Years

Pakistan sealed a long-awaited T20I series win over Australia in emphatic fashion, crushing the visitors in the second T20I to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match contest.

It marks Pakistan’s first T20 series victory against Australia in seven years, with the last such success coming in 2018 in the UAE, when Pakistan completed a 3-0 whitewash.

After winning the toss, Pakistan chose to bat first and put up a commanding 198 for 5 in their 20 overs.

Saim Ayub set the tone early, coming out with clear intent and finding the boundary regularly. The momentum only grew when captain Salman Ali Agha arrived at the crease and went on the offensive immediately, particularly after Saim’s opening partner Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed.

Agha played the defining innings of the match, smashing 76 off 40 balls, laced with 8 fours and 4 sixes, as Pakistan maintained pressure throughout the middle overs.

He was well supported by Usman Khan, who anchored the innings with a composed 53 off 36 balls featuring 4 fours and 2 sixes. Usman also stitched together a crucial 50-run stand with Shadab Khan, helping Pakistan keep the run rate healthy heading into the death overs.

Pakistan then finished strongly, with Mohammad Nawaz striking a couple of boundaries in the final over to push the total close to 200.

Australia’s chase never truly got going as Pakistan’s spinners delivered a ruthless performance to dismantle the batting order.

Saim Ayub made an immediate impact with the ball as well, removing Travis Head once again, continuing a trend that has clearly unsettled the Australian opener in this series.

From there, Pakistan’s spin trio kept taking wickets and Australia  were eventually bowled out for 108, handing Pakistan a massive 90-run victory.

The dominant win not only gave Pakistan the series, but also underlined the team’s growing momentum heading into the T20 World Cup 2026 in Sri Lanka.

With Pakistan now 2-0 up, attention turns to the final match, where the hosts will have a chance to complete a clean sweep.
