Adelaide weather forecast for Saturday January 31st and the days ahead

Adelaide is heading into a noticeably cooler stretch after today’s lingering heat, with southerly winds taking the edge off temperatures and a run of mostly sunny days settling in as the week unfolds. For the rest of Saturday, Adelaide can expect a top of 32°C under partly cloudy skies, with a slight chance of a shower and the possibility of a thunderstorm brushing the northern suburbs during the morning. Fresh southerly winds will make conditions feel cooler later in the day, but the UV remains extreme, with sun protection recommended from mid-morning through to early evening. Fire danger remains High for the Mount Lofty Ranges and Moderate for metropolitan Adelaide.

Sunday delivers a much more comfortable summer day, with temperatures easing to a top of 25°C. Partly cloudy conditions and persistent southerly to southeasterly winds will keep things pleasant, making it a welcome break after the heat of recent days. UV levels will still be extreme, so sun safety remains essential despite the cooler air.

From Monday onwards, Adelaide settles into a run of classic summer weather, with sunny skies dominating and temperatures gradually climbing back into the high twenties and low thirties. Monday reaches 29°C with clear conditions, before warming further to 31°C on Tuesday and hovering around the 30°C mark through midweek. Overnight minimums stay cool, dipping as low as 11°C on Monday morning, which should provide some relief for homes that have been holding onto heat. By Friday, temperatures rise again to a top of 32°C, but conditions remain dry and settled.

Across South Australia, the broader weather pattern is driven by a strong high pressure system moving into the Bight, pushing earlier trough activity out to the far northeast. While much of the state sees improving conditions, isolated thunderstorms remain possible over northern agricultural and pastoral districts, particularly today and into Sunday, with some storms capable of producing strong wind gusts. Coastal districts may see isolated showers, and areas of raised dust are possible inland. The heatwave gripping parts of the state is easing, with a more significant temperature drop expected from Sunday as a milder southwesterly flow spreads across South Australia. Rainfall totals remain very patchy and generally minimal, with only localised falls possible in the north and northeast.
