The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is preparing to move forward with another round of negotiations to sell the media rights for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 after initial bids failed to meet its reserve price.
The first phase of bidding concluded last week, but the offers submitted did not reach the minimum price set by the board. As a result, the PCB is continuing efforts to secure a higher valuation for the league’s broadcast rights.
The PSL, which is the flagship event on the PCB’s domestic calendar, is scheduled to begin on March 26 this year. Expectations were high for the bidding process, particularly because the tournament will expand from six to eight teams for the first time.
According to sources, the PCB had set a relatively high base price, anticipating strong interest from broadcasters due to the league’s expansion and growing commercial appeal.
A PCB media official confirmed that the media rights process for the 2026 edition is still ongoing. The official said that the initial bids were financially stronger than those received for the previous PSL edition but added that the board believes the value can be pushed higher.
Rather than immediately launching a formal second round of bidding, the PCB is currently holding direct negotiations with the bidders who participated in the first phase.
These discussions are aimed at encouraging the bidders to improve their offers before the board decides on the next steps.
