Medalist Season 2 Opening Theme “Cold Night” by HANA Now Available on Music Streaming Platforms

Seven-member J-pop girl group HANA’s new single “Cold Night” is now available on several music streaming platforms, which serves as the main opening theme of Medalist Season 2.

The song is HANA’s first collaboration with an anime series and will be part of the group’s eponymous debut album, which will be available digitally worldwide on February 23, 2026. The album will feature 11 tracks, including all previously released singles, a live recording of “Tiger,” and two brand-new songs titled “Bloom” and “ALL IN.”

HANA also provided a statement on “Cold Night,” saying:

Hello! We’re HANA, and we’re honored to perform the opening theme for the anime Medalist! “Cold Night” is an anthem for everyone who’s growing, challenging themselves, and working hard toward their dreams. No matter how many times you fall, if you keep getting back up and pushing forward, we truly believe dreams come true—and we want to be there to give you that push with all our hearts. If our music can help even one person face forward, we’d be so happy. Please enjoy this song together with the anime Medalist!

The second season of Medalist began broadcasting in Japan on January 24, 2026. The first season aired for 13 episodes from January 2025 to March 2025. Hulu streams the anime in the U.S. and Disney+ streams it in other countries and territories. An anime film will also be released in 2027.

The anime is based on the skating manga series by Tsurumaikada, which began serialization in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon magazine on May 25, 2020. Fourteen tankobon volumes have been released in Japan as of January 2026.
