New Cyborg 009 Anime Series Reveals Teaser Trailer; Gets 2026 Premiere

The newest anime adaptation of the late Shotaro Ishinomori’s original work, Cyborg 009 Nemesis, is scheduled to premiere in 2026. It was announced on January 25, 2026, which is also Ishinomori’s birthday, alongside a teaser trailer.

The theme song featured in the trailer is a cover edition of the original 1979 Cyborg 009’s opening theme song, “Tagatameni” (“For Whom”), and it will be sung by Jrock singer Kyoko. While more information about the series will be announced in the coming months, it is confirmed that Ishimori Productions is producing the series. The series was first announced on July 2025.

The original manga series, Cyborg 009, was first serialized in Shonengahosha’s Weekly Shonen King in 1964 before being published in other magazines such as Weekly Shonn Magazine, Adventure King, and Shojo Comic. It inspired various TV anime series, movies, a 2017 web anime, Cyborg 009: Call of Justice, and a novel trilogy based on Ishinomori’s manuscripts.

Cyborg 009: Call of Justice can be streamed on Netflix, where they describe it as:

Years after taking up normal lives incognito, the cyborgs are forced to fight again when the superhuman Blessed appear with a plan for humanity.
