Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has ordered the suspension of all preparations related to Pakistan’s participation in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
According to sources, the Pakistan team management has been informed that further instructions regarding the future course of action will be communicated at a later stage. The management has also been directed to submit a parallel plan in case Pakistan does not take part in the T20 World Cup.
It is important to note that Pakistan has assured full support for Bangladesh following its decision not to travel to India for the tournament. Pakistan has described Bangladesh’s security concerns as reasonable and valid.
Earlier, sources said the Bangladeshi government has contacted Pakistani authorities on the matter, seeking support as the situation continues to develop.
In response, Pakistani officials reportedly assured Dhaka of full backing, reiterating that Bangladesh’s concerns are legitimate and should be addressed.
The same sources then added that if Bangladesh’s issue remains unresolved, Pakistan will review its own decision regarding participation in the T20 World Cup.
Officials were quoted as saying that no country should be allowed to intimidate or pressure another, and that Bangladesh’s position should be handled through proper channels, based on its stated concerns.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh is expected to decide by January 21 whether it will travel to India for the 2026 T20 World Cup, after the ICC reportedly set a deadline during discussions with the Bangladesh Cricket Board in Dhaka.
