Adelaide is set for a hot and mostly dry stretch of weather, with soaring temperatures, extreme UV levels and elevated fire danger shaping the week ahead across the city and much of South Australia.
Today, Adelaide will see a sunny top of 36 degrees. Winds will be east to northeasterly at 20 to 30 km/h, tending southeast to southwesterly in the evening before shifting easterly later tonight. Fire danger is rated High for the Mount Lofty Ranges and Moderate for the Adelaide Metropolitan area.
On Monday, conditions will remain sunny with a maximum of 31 degrees following a warm overnight low of 23. Northeasterly winds will shift south to southwesterly late in the morning, increasing to 25 to 35 km/h.
By Tuesday, Adelaide will see slightly cooler conditions, with a minimum of 16 and a top of 30 degrees. Skies will be partly cloudy, with southerly to southwesterly winds at 20 to 30 km/h.
Looking more broadly across the state, a high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea is extending a ridge across South Australia, with a trough moving in from the west today and shifting eastwards on Monday. This pattern will bring mostly dry conditions and above-average temperatures to much of the state.
For the rest of Sunday, conditions will remain dry across most areas, with the chance of a shower or thunderstorm about the Lower South East coast later in the day.
On Monday, isolated showers and possible thunderstorms are forecast for eastern agricultural districts, while much of the state remains dry.
Tuesday and Wednesday will be largely settled, apart from isolated light showers along southern and western coasts, with cooler southerly winds and afternoon sea breezes developing.
