A TV anime adaptation of the Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen manga by Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan’s Hiroshi Shibashi has been revealed, accompanied by a trailer and teaser visual.
Taito Ban is playing Kodo Iwamoto, a boy who attends a middle school under the army’s control during the early 20th century. Kodo is ordered to investigate supernatural phenomena around the country, and one day comes across a boy with a special power, to whom he offers a recommendation letter to join his school. Casted alongside Ban are Yuki Sakakibara as Kai Haramachi and Kento Ito as Soichiro Amaba.

The manga began serialization in Shueisha’s Ultra Jump seinen magazine in 2021 and will release its 13th volume in Japan on Jan 19, 2026. Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen was originally a one-shot.
