11 of Australia’s most aesthetic gyms and fitness clubs

Australia’s fitness landscape has shifted well beyond the standard, smelly gym. Wellness – in more ways than one – has become an increasing priority across travel, beauty and food.  and in its wake, there has been a new wave of aesthetic gyms and fitness clubs redefining what it means to work out.

Of course there are already a smattering of luxurious wellness centres popping up across the country. But now gyms are becoming destinations in their own right – designed as much for recovery and ritual as they are for performance. And having a beautiful space to work out makes it just that much more enticing to keep to our routines.

From post-workout facilities and breathwork studios to hyper-personalised training and design-led studios, these environments reflect a growing demand for experiences that feel considered, aesthetic and genuinely luxurious. But with so many new openings and members-only clubs, it can be difficult to know which ones actually live up to the hype.

Here, we’ve rounded up some of the most talked-about luxury gyms and wellness clubs across Australia – spaces we’ve visited, tested and returned to across the country – highlighting what stands out, and what to know before you go.

1. Saint Haven (Melbourne and Sydney)

Locations: Collingwood, South Yarra, Toorak and coming soon to North Sydney, Mosman and Bondi Beach

Highlights and key amenities:

  • concierge
  • MEDIC-grade recovery (IV drips, cryotherapy, hyperbaric oxygen)
  • thermal baths (sauna, magnesium pool)
  • specialised studios for reformer Pilates and sound baths
  • on-site organic, seed oil-free restaurant and bar
  • holistic spa offering massages, facials, energy healing, and personalised wellness plans.

Saint Haven is an exclusive members-only private club that takes luxury wellness to the next level. It runs more like a private members club than a gym, so expect a slower, more considered pace – don’t try to rush through everything in one visit. If you can, book your recovery treatments ahead of time; the hyperbaric and IV slots tend to fill quickly, especially in the mornings.

2. Total Fusion (Brisbane)

Locations: Newstead

Highlights and key amenities:

  • rooftop magnesium lap pools
  • hot and cold plunge pools for therapy
  • 11 saunas (infrared and traditional), and steam rooms
  • snow rooms, salt therapy rooms, cryotherapy, compression therapy, and Float tanks
  • multi-level gyms featuring top-of-the-line Technogym equipment, olympic-grade lifting areas, high-altitude training rooms, and functional training zones
  • studios offering Reformer Pilates, Yoga, HIIT, Cycle, and unique “Fusion” classes
  • on-site childminding and doggy daycare.

It’s a big space, and it can feel a bit overwhelming on your first visit, so it helps to map out what you actually want to use beforehand. Head to the rooftop magnesium pool outside of peak hours – it’s noticeably quieter mid-morning and feels more like a hotel than a gym.

3. The Commons Health Club (Melbourne)

Locations: Richmond and South Yarra (opening end of March 2026)

Highlights and key amenities:

  • 24/7 gym floor
  • group fitness studios (Reformer Pilates, Yoga)
  • comprehensive bathhouse with hot magnesium pools, cold plunges, saunas, and steam rooms
  • Dyson tools in change rooms
  • on-site cafes, workspaces, and a scent bar.

This is one of those places where people tend to stay longer than planned because everything’s in one spot –work, workout, and recovery. The bathhouse gets busy in the evenings, so if you want a quieter experience, go earlier in the day or later at night when it’s mostly regulars.

4. CHANGE (Adelaide)

Locations: North Adelaide

Highlights and key amenities:

  • luxurious recovery lounge, complete with saunas, steam, magnesium pool and two ice plunge facilities
  • private spa suite
  • yoga and breath work classes
  • a lush sky deck overlooking O’Connell Street and the city skyline
  • reformer Pilates, functional group training and a run club.

It has a quieter, more intentional feel compared to bigger-city spaces – you notice people actually using the recovery areas properly rather than just passing through. The breathwork and yoga classes are worth trying even if you usually stick to strength or Pilates; they’re a big part of what sets the experience apart.

5. TheTrack Langley (Perth)

Locations: East Perth

Highlights and key amenities:

  • wellness studio features Rejuvenex saunas, ice bath and rock mat therapy
  • world-class weight lifting bars and dumbbells
  • indoor 45 metre track
  • view out over the Swan River
  • 24/7 access
  • group classes and Fitness Boxing classes.

It leans more performance-focused than aesthetic, but the design still feels elevated without being overdone. The equipment quality really stands out – if you’re particular about lifting, you’ll notice the difference straight away.

6. Bounce Surfers Paradise (Gold Coast)

Locations: Surfers Paradise (opening later this year)

Highlights and key amenities:

There’s not much released yet, but based on similar openings, it’ll likely sit somewhere between high-energy training space and lifestyle-driven gym. Expect it to attract a younger crowd and lean into a more social, community feel rather than a quiet wellness environment.

7. Hale Gym (Canberra)

Locations: Barton

Highlights and key amenities:

  • cold plunges
  • Normatec Compression Suits
  • luxury cave pool
  • female and male steam room and traditional saunas
  • dedicated weights room
  • luxury shower facilities equipped with premium toiletries, Dyson hairdryers, curling and straightening tools

It feels quite discreet – more like a private wellness space than a traditional gym. The recovery facilities are genuinely the highlight here, and they’re integrated in a way that encourages you to treat them as part of your routine, not just an add-on.

8. Lockeroom Gym (Sydney and Melbourne)

Locations: Melbourne CBD and Sydney CBD

Highlights and key amenities:

  • private facility for business executives
  • a full-suite of nutrition coaching, medical testing and personal training
  • access to a team of qualified nutritionists, PT’s, physios, and more
  • personalised r personal training, nutrition and lifestyle plan for all members
  • full body composition scans and blood testing
  • 60-minute high-performance workouts.

This is very much a coached environment – you’re not really left to figure things out on your own, which is exactly why people see results. From what we’ve seen (and heard), the one-on-one attention is a big drawcard, especially if you’re time-poor and want everything handled in a structured, efficient way.

9. One Playground (Sydney)

Locations: Haymarket, North Sydney, Surry Hills, Newtown, Marrickville, Merrylands

Highlights and key amenities:

  • traditional and infrared saunas
  • luxury change rooms
  • dedicated recovery suites with ice baths
  • group training studios (Pilates, yoga, barre)
  • high-end cardio/strength equipment
  • on-site child-minding services.

The overall setup is genuinely strong – people consistently mention the range of classes and quality of equipment as a standout. That said, the biggest thing to be aware of is how busy it gets. Classes can book out almost instantly and peak hours often mean waiting for equipment, so you do need to plan around that if you want the best experience.

10. Studio Mouvoir (Sydney)

Locations: Surry Hills

Highlights and key amenities:

  • reformer and mat pilates classes (beginner, open and progressive levels)
  • private group classes
  • breezy indoor-outdoor studio
  • premium sound system.

The space itself is a big part of the appeal. It’s light-filled, minimal, and has that indoor-outdoor flow that makes it feel noticeably different from a typical Pilates studio. It’s also in close proximity to AP Bakery, which makes for a great post-class treat.

11. Good Vibes Yoga (Melbourne)

Locations: Northcote and Collingwood

Highlights and key amenities:

  • full change room facilities and showers with all-natural body products
  • complimentary Manduka Pro mats, props (blocks, straps, bolsters)
  • climate-controlled, eco-friendly studios
  • mat yoga and reformer pilates classes.

This one comes up again and again for its teachers – most people highlight how consistent the quality is across classes. It also feels more accessible than some of the more design-heavy studios, with classes that work well across levels rather than skewing too advanced or too beginner-focused.
