Fire at Delhi MP Flats; Residents Allege CPWD Fire Safety Systems Failed

A massive fire broke out at the Brahmaputra Apartments on B.D. Marg in New Delhi, a residential complex for Members of Parliament. A resident alleged that internal safety mechanisms failed, stating, ‘Fire safety thi lekin wo bhee iss time pay kaam nahi curry… The pump is not working.’ The fire, which reportedly started in empty flats, prompted the dispatch of six fire tenders to the high-security zone located near the Indian Parliament. While no casualties were reported, some individuals with minor injuries were hospitalised. Residents voiced serious allegations, claiming that not only were the internal fire safety systems managed by the CPWD non-functional, but also that the Delhi Fire Service tenders were delayed by at least half an hour. The fire has been doused and cooling operations are underway.
