Political turmoil in Nepal, where youth protests over corruption and unemployment led to the resignation of Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, is now causing repercussions in India. Opposition parties are citing the events as a cautionary tale for India, with the Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamna’ warning that the “fire in Nepal is a spark of hunger and unemployment.” The BJP has hit back, alleging a sinister ploy by the opposition. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey made a direct claim that a toolkit is being used by Rahul Gandhi with foreign powers to foment similar trouble in India. Dubey alleged, “the ploy is the toolkit of what happened in Sri Lanka, then what happened in Bangladesh and now what’s happening in Nepal is being used by Rahul Gandhi…in India to foment the same kind of trouble.”
