Aniplex has provided some updates for The Irregular at Magic High School: Yotsuba Succession Arc anime movie, including a teaser trailer and a 2026 release date (it was previously stated to be coming “next winter”).
Daisuke Ono and Ai Kayano have been cast as Katsushige Shibata and Yuka Tsukuba, respectively. Meanwhile, the main staff of the movie includes:
• Director: Jimmy Stone (The Irregular at Magic High School Season 3 and The Irregular at Magic High School: Visitor’s Arc, The Irregular at Magic High School: Reminiscence Arc assistant director)
• Character designer: Kana Ishida (The Irregular at Magic High School series)
• Music composer: Taku Iwasaki (The Irregular at Magic High School series)
• Animation production: Eight Bit
Cast members like Yuichi Nakamura (Tatsuya Shiba), Saori Hayami (Miyuki Shiba), Chiwa Saito (Maya Yotsuba), and Emiri Kato (Fumiya Kuroba) are returning.
The Irregular at Magic High School is based on the Dengeki Bunko light novel series written by Tsutomu Sato and illustrated by Kana Ishida. The books started publication in March 2011 and ended with 32 volumes in September 2020, with a sequel series beginning in October 2020. Yen Press describes the first volume as:
The year is 2095. Magic has been tamed as another form of technology, and the practice of magic is now a rigorous discipline. Brother and sister Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba are just about to start their first year at the renowned First Magic High School of Japan. The anime’s Madhouse-produced first season debuted in 2014. Eight Bit produced the subsequent The Irregular at Magic High School The Movie: The Girl Who Calls the Stars (2017), The Irregular at Magic High School: Visitor’s Arc (2020), and The Irregular at Magic High School: Reminiscence Arc (2021) entries.
The Irregular at Magic High School was originally a Shosetsuka ni Naro web novel that began in 2008.
