Yona of the Dawn Manga Will End in December 2025

After more than 15 years, Mizuho Kusanagi‘s fantasy romance manga Yona of the Dawn (Akatsuki no Yona) is set to end in December 2025.

The final chapter of the series will be published in the second 2026 issue of Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume, which comes out on December 19, 2025 JST. The fact that Yona of the Dawn‘s conclusion was near had already been advertised earlier.

To commemorate its final chapter, some of the upcoming Hana to Yume issues will come with free goodies (furoku). The 24th 2025 issue, for instance, will have a shikishi-style illustration card and an alternate cover for the manga Spring Storm and Monster (Haru no Arashi to Monster). Meanwhile, the 2026 first issue will come with a set of 16 original art reproductions, and the second 2026 issue will be packaged with an acrylic stand that uses new artwork.

Additionally, Animate visitors can get a copy of Hana to Yume’s second 2026 issue with an A4-size acrylic plate (this goodie isn’t free). This joins an ongoing Animate-exclusive plan, which involves original art reproductions attached to Hana to Yume and The Hana to Yume issues released between October 3, 2025 JST and December 19, 2025 JST.

Yona of the Dawn began its serialization in the 17th 2009 issue of Hana to Yume. The titular Yona is a red-haired princess who is in love with her cousin Soo-Won, but trying to get together with him becomes the least of her worries when an unexpected murder forces her to flee the palace.

It inspired a 24-episode TV anime, directed by Kazuhiro Yoneda (Gleipnir, Kageki Shoujo!!, Do It Yourself!!) at Studio Pierrot, that aired from October 2014 to March 2015.

The manga had recently been on hiatus since July 2025, returning on October 3, 2025 JST. Viz Media publishes the physical volumes in English.
