Xolo Maridueña & Cole Escola Cast in 3rd Season of One Piece Live-Action Series

The official Twitter/X account of Netflix’s live-action One Piece series has announced the casting of Xolo Maridueña as Portgas D. Ace in the forthcoming third season. A short new video featuring Maridueña was also released, along with the casting announcement.

In addition, it was announced earlier this week that actor Cole Escola has been cast as Bon Clay for season three of the live-action adaptation.

Meanwhile, the show’s main cast includes:

  • • Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy
  • • Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro
  • • Emily Rudd as Nami
  • • Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp
  • • Mikaela Hoover as Tony Tony Chopper (voice)

The third season of the One Piece live-action series was initially announced at the ONE PIECE DAY’25 event and livestream this past August. The upcoming second season is expected to premiere on Netflix, starting March 10, 2026.

Netflix’s One Piece live-action series is a co-production with Tomorrow Studios (Cowboy Bebop live action, Snowpiercer TV series). The first season contained eight total episodes and was released on Netflix on August 31, 2023.

Joe Tracz (Percy Jackson and the Olympians co-executive producer) is serving as showrunner for the second season, after joining the series as a new writer and executive producer. Matt Owens was the initial showrunner for the first season, but stepped down earlier in March. Steven Maeda, who developed the series with Owens and served as co-showrunner in the first season, remains involved as executive producer.

Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga series was launched in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on July 22, 1997 under the Jump Comics label. A total of 113 tankobon volumes have been released as of November 2025. VIZ Media releases the manga series in English.

The manga inspired a 1999 OVA from Production I.G and a long-running TV anime adaptation from Toei Animation that has remained on air since 1999. The franchise also inspired numerous anime films, stage plays, video games, drama CDs, card games, art and guidebooks, and more.

The TV anime series recently announced a 3-month break that will begin in January 2026, with the series resuming in April 2026 with their latest arc. An anime adaptation of One Piece Heroines was also announced.

This is one captain who’ll never drop anchor until he and his friends all reach their dreams!
