Woman charged in shooting near elementary school
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Charges have been filed in connection with a shooting involving two women in Philadelphia’s Spring Garden neighborhood.

Police have charged 36-year-old Jamilah Torrance with aggravated assault after a 51-year-old woman was shot in the buttocks around 2 p.m. Thursday on the 1700 block of Mount Vernon Street.
Investigators say the shooting stemmed from an argument between the two women. Neighbors reported hearing ongoing disputes between them in recent weeks, including earlier that morning.
The incident occurred near Waring Elementary School and Roberto Clemente Playground. Officials placed the school on a temporary hold during the investigation, meaning no one was allowed to enter or exit the building.
The shooting victim is expected to recover.
