‘Two Evil Eyes’ Actress Sally Kirkland Has Passed Away

Academy Award nominee Sally Kirkland passed away this morning at the age of 84.

The sad news comes just days after the actress was put on hospice following a battle with dementia, infection, and a recent fall, according to Variety.

Kirkland garnered widespread acclaim for her Oscar-nominated performance in 1987’s Anna, but horror fans are most likely to recognize her from Two Evil Eyes, appearing in Dario Argento’s adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Black Cat.

Kirkland also earned a Golden Globe nomination for the made-for-TV movie The Haunted, based on the Smurl haunting, and popped up in the ’80s slasher Fatal Games.

Her other genre credits include Trash Fire, Suburban Gothic, Fingerprints, Apartment 212, Jack the Reaper, Double Exposure, Buddy Hutchins, Paint It Black, and Forever.

Kirkland’s six-decade career spanned over 250 film and TV productions, including JFK, Bruce Almighty, The Sting, Private Benjamin, The Way We Were, 80 for Brady, and “Days of Our Lives.”

In one of her final roles, Kirkland starred as herself in Sallywood, based on the true story of an aspiring writer hired as her personal assistant.
