A short new teaser trailer has been unveiled for the There’s No Freaking Way I’ll be Your Lover! Unless… ~Next Shine~ anime. The new anime serves as a special theatrical edition to the There’s No Freaking Way I’ll be Your Lover! Unless… TV anime series, and will begin screening in Japanese theaters on November 21, 2025.
The sequel anime will contain five episodes, consisting of episodes 13-17, that adapt the light novel’s fourth volume.
Natsumi Uchinuma (storyboard artist and director for More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers ending animation, Episode 4 and 8) directed the first season, with Naruhisa Arakawa (More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers) as series screenwriter, and Takao Kato (More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers chief director) as advisor. Studio MOTHER is in charge of the animation production.
Meanwhile, the anime’s voice cast includes:

The TV anime adaptation of There’s No Freaking Way I’ll be Your Lover! Unless… aired for 12 episodes from July 2025 to September 2025. REMOW streamed the anime on the It’s Anime YouTube channel during the Summer 2025 anime season.
The original yuri romantic comedy light novel series is written by Teren Mikami and illustrated by Eku Takeshima. It was first published by Shueisha’s Dash x Bunko imprint on February 21, 2020 and has released eight volumes, including two short story collections, as of September 2025.
The light novels also inspired a manga adaptation by Musshu in May 2020.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both the light novels and manga for release in English. It describes the main synopsis of the former as:
Awkward, introverted Amaori Renako is leaving her lonely middle school life behind, determined to become an outgoing and popular high schooler. Glamorous, confident Oduka Mai is Renako’s total opposite: wealthy, carefree, and a literal fashion model. Against the odds, the two girls form an immediate connection. Renako thinks she may have found the best friend of her dreams…until Mai’s love confession sends her feelings into a tailspin. Renako wants to prove to Mai that being BFFs is better than being girlfriends, but Mai is dead set on convincing Renako that they’re destined to be lovers!
