It’s been quite a while since we’ve had an update on Apple TV’s Cape Fear television adaption.
Currently filming, the series continues to add names to its already sizeable cast of talent.
We can confirm that genre icon Ted Levine has joined the cast in an undisclosed role. Of course, Levine is best known for his horrifying turn as villain Buffalo Bill in 1991’s classic genre tale The Silence of the Lambs.
Also joining the cast is equally prolific actor Ron Perlman, best known for the titular role in Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy adaptions. Similarly, Perlman’s role in the series has not yet been disclosed.
Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson star as Anna and Tom Bowden, alongside Monsters star Javier Bardem as Max Cady. The role of Cady has previously been played by Robert Mitchum and Robert De Niro, garnering the latter an Oscar nomination.
An official logline describes the series as follows:
“A storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna and Tom Bowden when Max Cady, a notorious killer from their past, gets out of prison.”
The project, spearheaded by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, will be the second reimagining of 1962’s Cape Fear. Initially based on the 1958 novel The Executioners, Scorsese remade the film to enormous success in 1991. According to official sources, Adams, Wilson, and Bardem are also aboard as producers.
Nick Antosca will act as Cape Fear’s showrunner, bringing his lengthy experience with genre television to the project. Perhaps best known for his work on Chucky and Channel Zero, Antosca has also produced The Act, Hannibal, and Teen Wolf.
Cape Fear currently doesn’t have a premiere date, but the show is expected to debut sometime in 2026. Stay tuned for more updates!
