SEQUEL TO “THE INVISIBLE MAN” STILL POSSIBLE SAYS ELISABETH MOSS

Posted on: October 12th, 2025

With 2020’s re-imagining of The Invisible Man, filmmaker Leigh Whannell achieved a truly impressive feat in hindsight.

The film was released just three weeks before the world ground to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, despite having its theatrical release cut short, The Invisible Man still managed an impressive $144.5 million worldwide. It also became the most critically lauded of Blumhouse’s planned modern reboot of Universal’s classic monsters’ series.

It was little surprise when a sequel was announced in May of 2020, with Whannell expected to return, alongside star Elisabeth Moss.

However, despite a few updates of “ongoing development,” we’ve heard precious little over the past five years.

Now, we have a promising update from actress Elisabeth Moss, who is still very much attached to the project. Speaking recently about a potential sequel, the star said the following:
“I feel like it’s important. We love that movie so much. The people who made it – we’re so proud of it. We really want to make sure if we do a sequel, it’s worthy and it’s going to have to be as good if not better. So that’s been kind of what’s slowed us down.”

Moss continues:
“But I don’t think that’s a bad thing. I think if we’re going to do it, it’s got to be right. But we still want to do it. We’re still working on it. We just have to get the right script together.”

So, although the process is an arduous one, a sequel to Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man is still on the cards. Will Moss’ statements prompt an official update from the creative team? Or will we still be awaiting a follow-up five years from now?

We’ll let you know as soon as we have any further updates!
