The opening theme song sequence for Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc — part regular montage, part conventional anime opening — has been released on YouTube as a collaboration video by Kenshi Yonezu (who performs the opening song “IRIS OUT”) and Mappa.
Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc had its Japanese premiere on September 19 JST. It’s coming to North America on October 24.
“IRIS OUT” made its digital debut on September 15 JST, with a double A-side single release (also featuring the ending song “JANE DOE,” which sees Yonezu collaborating with Utada Hikaru) following on September 24 JST. “IRIS OUT” made it to the fifth spot on the Billboard Global 200 chart.
Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc is the sequel to 2022’s Chainsaw Man TV anime and sees protagonist Denji crossing paths with Reze, who takes an apparent interest in him. The anime is based on the Shueisha-published supernatural action manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, which Viz Media describes as such:
Denji’s a poor young man who’ll do anything for money, even hunting down devils with his pet devil Pochita. He’s a simple man with simple dreams, drowning under a mountain of debt. But his sad life gets turned upside down one day when he’s betrayed by someone he trusts. Now with the power of a devil inside him, Denji’s become a whole new man—Chainsaw Man!
