Kogyo Tsushin reports that Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc has made more than 2.9 billion yen (~US19.5 million) in Japan since its September 19 JST debut.
It also continued to remain at the top of the local weekend box office ranking, keeping the wildly popular Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle in second place.
Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc attracted 523,000 moviegoers and made 799.7 million yen (~US$5.37 million) during its second weekend, while Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle drew 271,000 moviegoers and made 447 million yen in its 11th weekend.
Infinity Castle has now made more than 35 billion yen in Japan. To escape the position of being the second highest-grossing movie in Japan of all time and take the crown of 2020’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train, it’ll need to make more than 40.75 billion yen. Worldwide, Box Office Mojo calculates its total gross to be US$605,400,000 as of its last update.
Other anime films that placed in the top 10 of the latest Japanese weekend box office include Eiga Kimi to Idol Precure ♪Omatase! Kimi ni Todokeru Kirakki Live! at 7th and 100 METERS at 10th. They premiered on September 12 JST and September 19 JST.
