Poupelle of Chimney Town Sequel Drops Teaser Trailer and Visual, Premieres March 27

Anime film sequel Poupelle of Chimney Town ~Yakusoku no Tokeidai~ (Eiga Entotsumachi no Poupelle ~Yakusoku no Tokeidai~) has received a March 27, 2026 Japanese release date, along with a teaser trailer and teaser visual.

The movie is arriving more than five years since the first Poupelle of Chimney Town film premiered in Japan in December 2020. The plot, inspired by Poupelle creator Akihiro Nishino‘s picture book Tick Tock: Yakusoku no Tokeidai, sees returning protagonist Lubicchi wandering into a world that has exerted control over time, and where a mysterious clock tower stands with its hands at 11:59. To return home, Lubicchi has to get the clock to move again.

Also teased is an encounter with a boy who has continued to believe in a promise for 100 years, which allows Lubicchi, who has given up on reuniting with the titular Poupelle from the first film, the “‘courage to believe.’”

The original movie, also inspired by a Nishino picture book, saw Lubicchi meeting the titular character, who is made out of garbage. A Poupelle of Chimney Town musical had a run in August of this year and is currently selling streaming tickets.
