“How many people have you killed…?”
When it was first announced that Cineverse would be handling a remake of 1984’s slasher classic Silent Night, Deadly Night, initially, it looked like the project would be faithful to the original.
Halloween Ends star Rohan Campbell was aboard to play Billy Chapman, and a brief teaser assured us he’d be donning a Santa suit, like the movie we know and love.
However, 2025’s Silent Night, Deadly Night is actually quite a dark horse. It seems we’ve all been fooled by some very careful marketing, as the first full trailer reveals this will be a very different movie than expected.
The clip introduces us to Campbell’s Billy Chapman, a drifter with a dark secret…
Moving from place to place each holiday season, Billy harbours an unhealthy interest in serial killing… Donning a Santa suit, he takes an array of edged weapons to those nearby, indulging his bloodthirsty alter-ego.
After meeting local Pamela Varo, Billy tries to correct his deadly ways… But much to his surprise, Pamela is very turned on by his bloodlust… When the two collide, it is the key that unlocks the ultimate holiday massacre.
A mix of Natural Born Killers, Bonnie and Clyde, and a cheesy Hallmark holiday movie, Silent Night, Deadly Night looks quite different from the movie fans were expecting.
Wrong Turn director Mike P. Nelson has seemingly taken the bones of a slasher classic and woven a modern horror tale around them. How will this go over with genre fans? Will SNDN see success akin to Cineverse’s Terrifier? Or will it sink without trace like The Toxic Avenger?
We’re very curious to find out!
Silent Night, Deadly Night opens on December 12th 2025, and you can peep the festive first trailer below:
