Another new trailer and additional cast members have been revealed for the upcoming sixth season of Kingdom. Season six of the long-running historical war anime is scheduled to premiere in Japan on October 4, 2025.

The newest trailer also previews the ending theme song “Hoko” by Sora Tomonari.

Additionally, the anime’s official Twitter/X account also announced several new additional cast members that include:

  • • Taito Ban as Shun Sui Ji
  • • Hiroki Tochi as Ba Nan Ji

The production staff for season six retains many of the same staff from seasons 3-5. They include Kenichi Imaizumi as director, Noboru Takagi as series screenwriter, Hisashi Abe as character designer, and Hiroyuki Sawano and KOHTA YAMAMOTO as music composers. Pierrot and its subsidiary St.Signpost are in charge of the animation production.

The anime is based on the Warring States period manga series by Yasuhisa Hara. It was first launched in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump on January 26, 2006 and has released 76 tankobon volumes as of July 2025. A 77th volume will be released in Japan on October 17, 2025. VIZ Media announced earlier this year that it had licensed the manga for English release.

Besides the anime, the manga has inspired four live-action film adaptations, including a fifth installment coming in summer 2026, a 2010 video game, and two mobile games in 2016 and 2018, respectively. It was also the recipient of the 17th Osamu Tezuka Cultural prize. In December 2024, the series’ print circulation numbers passed 110 million copies.

Crunchyroll is currently streaming all five seasons of Kingdom, which started in 2012, and describes the main synopsis as:

Shin and Hyou are war-orphans in the kingdom of Qin. They dream of proving themselves on the battlefield until the day Hyou is captured by a minister. The boy manages to escape and return to his village, but he is badly injured. Shin then meets a mysterious youth who bears an eerie resemblance to Hyou — a boy who will one day become emperor!
