In a significant step toward restoring democratic governance, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, alongside members of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT), officially launched the Political Parties Capacity Building Program during a ceremony at the Karibe Convention Center in Juvénat.
This nationwide initiative seeks to revitalize Haiti’s political landscape, reinforce democratic values, and prepare the foundation for free, inclusive, and peaceful elections in the near future.
The program aims to train over 1,000 representatives from political parties across Haiti’s ten departments. The first training sessions are set to begin in November 2025, conducted through three regional centers located in Port-au-Prince (West Department), Cap-Haïtien (North Department), and Les Cayes (South Department).
The initiative is divided into three interconnected modules, each managed by respected Haitian institutions to ensure relevant, practical, and culturally aligned training:
-
Organizational and Functional Strengthening: Led by the Center for the Promotion of Democracy and Participatory Education (CPDEP), this module focuses on enhancing internal governance, promoting compliance with electoral laws, and upholding political ethics.
-
Managerial and Financial Strengthening: Managed by Groupe Croissance S.A., this component emphasizes financial transparency, sound leadership, and effective resource management within political organizations.
-
Communication and Technological Strengthening: Overseen by DAGMAR S.A., this module highlights the importance of digital communication, modern outreach strategies, and the responsible use of technology in politics.
As of late October, Haiti’s Ministry of Justice has registered and officially recognized over 220 political parties, marking a 34% increase from the previous electoral cycle’s 166. A major highlight of the launch was the introduction of a secure digital registration platform for political parties and members, developed by the Information Technology and Statistics Support Group (GSIS) to improve transparency and accountability.
Prime Minister Fils-Aimé commended the active participation of political stakeholders and reaffirmed the transitional government’s commitment to facilitating a smooth and democratic transition to elected leadership.
