“GOOD BOY” FETCHES .3 MILLION OPENING

Posted on: October 12th, 2025

Who’s a good boy?!

Of course, it’s Indy!

In another win for IFC and Shudder, Ben Leonberg’s experimental horror tale Good Boy has fetched a substantial sum at the weekend box-office.

Following its October 3rd debut, Good Boy managed to pull in $2.3 million at the domestic box-office.

Although this would be considered a disappointing sum for a major studio film, for an independent outfit, this is a major victory.

On a budget of just $750,000, the final tally means that Leonberg’s feature has already recouped its entire production budget. With the release in other territories set for October 10th, Good Boy is poised to be barking all the way to the bank.

Good Boy continues a burgeoning trend for IFC, becoming the third-best opening weekend in the company’s history. The film sits behind 2024’s Late Night with the Devil and In a Violent Nature, extending their winning streak into 2025.

Undoubtedly, the critical and commercial response to Good Boy is music to Leonberg’s ears. The filmmaker recently revealed that Good Boy was a true labour of love, with principal photography lasting 400 days over the course of three years.

It seems the hard work has more than paid off! Leonberg’s film is a hit, and his beloved pooch Indy is a star!

Good Boy’s success does leave one question up in the air, however… Will we see Indy battle the supernatural again in a sequel?

A lot of people hope so.
