This year’s Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood delivered a lineup that blended cult horror films, iconic slashers, cultural legends, anime chaos, and even a trip into a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With so many unique houses, the event offered something for every kind of horror fan. Below is a ranked review, starting from the weakest house and building all the way up to the one that stood above the rest. It was very difficult to rank this year!
Halloween Horror Nights continues September 12-14, 18-21, 25-28; October 2-5, 8-12, 15-19, 22-26, 29-31; November 1-2, 2025.
8. Fallout
Though highly anticipated, Fallout ended up being the most underwhelming house of the year. While the sets nailed the retro-futuristic vibe of Vault 33 and the wasteland, the scares felt sparse. The Ghoul animatronics looked impressive, and the nods to Nuka-Cola and Pip-Boys were clever, but too often it felt more like a walkthrough attraction than a terrifying haunt. Fans of the Prime Video series may enjoy the Easter eggs, but compared to other houses, this one lacked intensity and urgency.

7. WWE Presents: The Horrors of The Wyatt Sicks
This collaboration surprised many fans, blending the theatrics of WWE with HHN’s horror flair. Guests entered Uncle Howdy’s nightmare realm, encountering each member of the Wyatt Sicks in a series of unsettling vignettes. The sets were richly designed, and the house served as a heartfelt tribute to Bray Wyatt’s legacy. While not the scariest house, it succeeded in atmosphere and creativity. For wrestling fans, it was a unique and memorable crossover; for others, it may have felt a little niche.

6. Five Nights at Freddy’s
Stepping into Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria was both nostalgic and eerie. The animatronics loomed with unsettling realism, and the designers did a great job of balancing creepy quiet moments with sudden jump scares. Fans of the game and film franchise found plenty of Easter eggs to hunt for, from security office nods to Pizza Plex details. While it leaned more toward suspense than pure terror, the house successfully captured the spirit of FNAF and delivered a solid experience.

5. Monstruos 3: The Ghosts of Latin America
The finale of the Monstruos trilogy wrapped up this original concept with chilling effectiveness. Each of the three ghostly legends came alive with creative design and cultural authenticity, immersing guests in folklore that felt both fresh and terrifying. The sound design, wails, whispers, and traditional instruments, added to the atmosphere. While the earlier entries in the trilogy may still rank higher overall, this chapter offered a fitting and eerie conclusion that proved HHN still excels at original storytelling.

4. Poltergeist
The cult classic came to life with meticulous detail. From the glowing portal to the infamous closet scene, guests were pulled directly into the film’s supernatural nightmare. The house balanced nostalgia with some new twists, using lighting effects, puppetry, and unsettling soundscapes to keep the tension high. At times, it leaned more on movie recreation than sheer terror, but for fans of the 1982 film, this was a hauntingly faithful adaptation that rewarded every step.

3. Scarecrow: Music by SLASH
Returning to the farmland, this house placed guests in the middle of nature’s vengeance. Decayed barns, rotting fields, and vengeful scarecrows stalked every corner. What elevated it was SLASH’s original score, which pulsed through the house and gave every scene a sinister rhythm. While similar to Scarecrow: The Reaping, this version amplified the dread with stronger pacing and more varied scares. It blended classic HHN originality with a rock-and-roll edge, making it one of the more unique houses of the year.

2. Terrifier
Art the Clown proved he belongs at HHN. This house was unapologetically brutal, with gore effects that shocked even seasoned horror fans. Iconic kills from the films were recreated with jaw-dropping detail, and Art himself appeared in unpredictable and menacing ways. What worked best was the house’s commitment to unease — every corner felt dangerous, and the claustrophobic sets amplified the fear. While some may find it excessive, for gorehounds, this was HHN at its most extreme.

1. Jason Universe
At the top of the list is Jason Universe, a house that finally gave the horror icon his due. Guests were dropped directly into the world of Friday the 13th, navigating through blood-soaked corridors, decrepit shacks, and scenes of carnage that felt ripped straight from the films. Jason’s appearances were relentless and varied — one moment he’d crash through a wall, the next he’d tower from the shadows with his machete ready to strike. The iconic “ch-ch-ch, ah-ah-ah” sound design echoed throughout, keeping tension high and reminding guests that nowhere was safe. Nostalgic yet genuinely terrifying, Jason Universe proved why Jason Voorhees remains one of horror’s most enduring slashers.
HHN Hollywood 2025
Overall, Universal Studios Hollywood had another great year for Halloween Horror Nights. The park itself was as amazing as ever, with loads of atmosphere, scares, and memorable experiences. I highly suggest going — and like with every HHN, it’s always better with a group of friends to scream, laugh, and survive the night.
An honorable mension, don’t forget to check out the Terror Tram, it was overloaded with Blum House this year!
