FIRST TRAILER FOR “MONSTER: THE ED GEIN STORY” TEASES HITCHCOCK CONNECTION

“Now, for something really shocking…”

Netflix will unleash the latest season of Ryan Murphy’s Monster in less than a month, so now is the perfect time for a teaser.

In the short and simple first trailer, we witness Ed Gein’s Wisconsin farmhouse being set upon by police officers.

We see various horrific trinkets, including human faces mounted to stands, and earrings made from human flesh. All of this is quite true-to-life, as the things found in Gein’s home, more specifically in his barn, are very well documented.

Interspersed with the police uncovering Gein’s crimes, we see snippets of Gein’s life, introducing us to Charlie Hunnam’s portrayal of the infamous killer. We see Gein partaking in his favourite pastime… grave-robbing.

Gein is also seen conversing with his long-dead mother, giving us the first peek at Laurie Metcalf’s turn as Augusta Gein. Finally, Gein takes a stitched together mask, presumably made of human flesh, and puts it on, before glaring into the camera.

However, the most intriguing part of this trailer is undoubtedly the snippets of narration we hear. Alfred Hitchcock can be heard discussing the script for his hit film Psycho over the events of the trailer, driving home that Gein was the primary inspiration for the iconic Norman Bates.

Clearly still holding their cards close to the vest, Monster: The Ed Gein Story has a lot of surprises in store. Undoubtedly, it’ll be another sizeable hit for Netflix come its October 3rd premiere. Will you be watching?
