First Trailer Drop For Reimagined ‘Silent Night, Deadly Night’

“Have you been naughty?”

The 80s are back, baby. Sort of.

The reimagined version of Silent Night, Deadly Night is about to hit theaters and suddenly we’re thinking about Swatch and Blockbuster.

Back in 1984, Charles E. Sellier Jr.’s original Silent Night, Deadly Night was released in theaters only to be pulled from them a week later. Certain groups freaked out about a killer Santa, and the resulting protests were enough to get the movie banished from marquees.

It had a great afterlife in video stores and generated four sequels and a pseudo-remake.

Now Director Mike P. Nelson has made a reboot, which has gotten good word of mouth in the festival circuit. Today the first trailer for Nelson’s vision was released. Take a gander below.

But first, the synopsis:

“A twisted reimagining of the controversial classic – After witnessing his parents’ brutal murder on Christmas Eve, Billy transforms into a Killer Santa, delivering a yearly spree of calculated, chilling violence. This year, his blood-soaked mission collides with love, as a young woman challenges him to confront his darkness.”

Silent Night, Deadly Night, a reimagining of the controversial 1984 cult classic horror film, in theaters December 12, 2025.
