FILMMAKER RODRIGUE HUART EYED FOR “THE CONJURING” PREQUEL AT NEW LINE CINEMA

Although The Conjuring: Last Rites was loudly billed as the final entry in the mainline Conjuring franchise, we know money talks in Hollywood.

With the film making almost $500 million at the worldwide box-office, it’s highly unlikely that producers will let Ed and Lorraine Warren rest.

As we reported recently, we’ve been hearing almost constant whispers of a Conjuring prequel in the works.

Well, now, we appear to have confirmation that Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema are actively pursuing the prequel aspect.

Word reaches us that filmmaker Rodrigue Huart is being brought on board to craft the next iteration of The Conjuring for the studio.

Huart has previously worked on acclaimed shorts, among them the horror tale Transylvanie. According to our sources, the studio hopes that Huart will bring his unique European style to the series, whilst exploring the early days of Ed and Lorraine Warren.

Of course, Last Rites hinted at the idea of a Conjuring prequel, with its opening minutes spent with younger versions of the iconic investigators. However, it is currently unknown if actors Orion Smith and Madison Lawlor are aboard to reprise their roles of Ed and Lorraine Warren.

With a prequel, a television series, and several spin-off films still in the works, it’s safe to say The Conjuring: Last Rites won’t be the last we see of the Warrens.

We’ll keep an eye on this potential Conjuring prequel, and let you know as soon as we have any further news.
