Developer Polygon Crypt has waded into the throwback Survival Horror genre with Ghost Sector, which looks and sounds like Origin System’s cult classic PC title, BioForge. Originally revealed as part of The MIX Showcase back in March, Ghost Sector is currently slated for a Q1 2026 release on Steam, and will be part of the Brutal Indie Unleashed Showcase that will stream later today.
Ghost Sector takes place on planet RX-712, once a maximum security prison, but now transformed into an advanced research station. As the forefront of cybernetic robotic technology, the M-Tech Corporation converted the derelict prison into a massive robotic research facility. You awaken as M-07 a machine prototype with an unexplained anomaly at its core after a disastrous event.
The entire complex is in lockdown and the automated defense systems have been activated. You’ll need to scour the facility and search the various terminals to uncover notes about just what happened, as well as find out who you are.
As you traverse the complex, you’ll need to solve intricate puzzles. You can choose to bypass the base’s defenses and the horrors that are lurking within the facility, or take them on in combat. Keep in mind that you’re not equipped to deal with combat just yet. Luckily, you can discover upgrades for your body throughout the facility. However, every upgrade is a double-edged sword, enhancing your capabilities while depleting your finite energy reserves.
