For most of his career, Daniel Bernhardt has been known as the stunt guy, working on action films like Nobody, John Wick, and Ballerina. He’s usually doing the fighting in the background or helping the lead with their stunts. But finally, director Steve Kostanski has given Bernhardt centerstage in Kostanski’s reimagining of the 1983 sword-and-sorcery horror film, Deathstalker! Here, Bernhardt plays the titular Deathstalker, a dashing thief who has a deadly brush with destiny and must save the Kingdom of Abraxeon from the long-dead sorcerer Nekromemnon.

We spoke with Deathstalker star Daniel Bernhardt about playing the starring role, fighting practical monsters, and that glorious wig.
