The Danganronpa game series is getting a new addition in 2026 with Danganronpa 2×2, an “Ultimate Upgrade” of 2012’s Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. It’ll be available on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam.
What you’re getting with this release is the original scenario with “new visuals and production value for modern game systems” plus a new scenario “based on Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair.” The new story has the original’s setting and cast, but veers off into “a completely different chain of events with different victims, culprits, and tricks” after a particular incident.
The press release says that the new scenario is comparable to the original in terms of quantity of content.
Danganronpa 2×2 was unveiled at September 12 JST’s Nintendo Direct. Check out the teaser trailer:
