The 2021 anime film Child of Kamiari Month is getting a sequel with the title Beast of Kamisari Month. The new movie will “start filming in 2025.”
A piece of concept art and a pilot film, the latter available for a limited time only, were released with the announcement. The pilot shows an encounter between two characters, a hooded individual who resembles the demon Yasha from the first film and someone with wings.

Beast of Kamisari Month‘s principle settings are the islands of Awaji and Onogoro. According to legend, the former is the first island of Japan to have been created.
Child of Kamiari Month had a human protagonist called Kanna, who goes on a journey to Izumo to meet her dead mother. Its story involved the month of Kamiarizuki/Kannazuki, where it is believed that deities from across Japan gather at Izumo.
The original film was directed by Takana Shirai (Children of the Sea assistant animation director) at LIDENFILMS. The staff credits also included Ryuta Miyake (The Asadas! live action film) and Tetsuro Takita (Goemon live action movie co-writer) as scriptwriters, Tomomi Mochizuki (The Slime Diaries Ep 7, Ep 12 co-storyboard artist) as storyboard artist, and Haruka Sagawa (Call of the Night, Re:ZERO Season 3) as character designer. Toshinari Inoue was credited as the original creator, communication director, and another one of the scriptwriters.
The cast included Aju Makita as Kanna, Maya Sakamoto as Shiro, and Miyu Irino as Yasha.
