Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc Drops Post-release Visual

Two weeks after its Japanese premiere, Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc has received a new visual. It features the titular Reze lying on a ashore, brightly illuminated with a red flower obscuring most of her left eye.

Earlier this week, Kogyo Tsushin reported that the anime film had made more than 2.9 billion yen (~US19.5 million) in Japan since debuting on September 19 JST. Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc has also sat at the top of the Japanese weekend box office for its first two weekends.

The sequel to 2022’s Chainsaw Man TV anime sees protagonist Denji encountering Reze, whose apparent interest in him causes him to waver between his new acquaintance and his Public Safety superior Makima. Unlike the preceding series, Tatsuya Yoshihara (Chainsaw Man action director, Black Clover series director [later chief director], Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season1) handled directorial duties for the movie.

It has opened in some countries outside Japan and will begin screening in North America on October 24.

Chainsaw Man is based on the Shueisha-published supernatural action manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, which Viz Media describes as such:

Denji’s a poor young man who’ll do anything for money, even hunting down devils with his pet devil Pochita. He’s a simple man with simple dreams, drowning under a mountain of debt. But his sad life gets turned upside down one day when he’s betrayed by someone he trusts. Now with the power of a devil inside him, Denji’s become a whole new man—Chainsaw Man!

The first part of the manga was serialized from 2018 to 2021 in Weekly Shonen Jump. The current second part launched on the Shonen Jump+ app and website in July 2022. There are 22 volumes as of September 2025.
