AnimEigo and MediaOCD have announced that pre-orders for the home media Blu-ray release of Black Jack – The Complete OVA Series are now open, with the product slated to arrive on December 16, 2025.

The new AnimEigo Blu-ray home media release presents all 12 OVA episodes in 1080p HD for the first time.

The Blu-ray also features the following bonus features:

The first ten Black Jack OVAs were directed by Dezaki, with Tezuka Productions handling the animation production. The OVA episodes were released between December 12, 1993 and July 25, 2000. Two new OVAs titled Black Jack Final were released in December 2011, which were helmed by different directors after Dezaki’s passing in April 2011.

The original manga series by Osamu Tezuka was serialized in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion magazine from November 19,1973 to October 14, 1983. A total of 17 tankobon volumes were published in Japan. The manga was previously released in English in the U.S. by Vertical. Kodansha USA now publishes the manga in English.

The manga also inspired several other TV anime adaptations, OVAs, anime films, and numerous prequel and spinoff manga titles.

AnimEigo describes the main premise of the Black Jack OVAs as:

When mysterious medical ailments strike, there is only one person to call: the mysterious Black Jack – an unlicensed doctor who can solve any malady… for a price. Aided by his zesty little companion Pinoko, Dr. Black Jack travels the world, curing diseases that, at times, seem almost supernatural. But there is always a cure… or is there?

The Blu-ray is available for pre-order on MediaOCD’s official website
