It was the movie that famously said “all work and no play make Jack a dull boy…”
Well, we’re pleased to bring you the news that December 2025 certainly won’t be dull, as Stanley Kubrick’s classic The Shining returns to theatres.
The flick will make its IMAX debut this winter, with select theatres set to screen The Shining on December 12th 2025.
Of course, this is the perfect time to get lost in the wintry isolation of the Overlook Hotel, just… don’t let the pesky lingering spirits get inside your head… We all know how well that worked out for Jack Torrence, don’t we?
The Shining’s return to the big screen caps off another Stephen King heavy year for genre cinema. Alongside The Monkey, The Long Walk, and The Life of Chuck, the IMAX re-release of Kubrick’s iconic King adaption only further proves the world can’t get enough of Stephen King.
Although King has been vocal about his disappointment in Kubrick’s The Shining adaption, that hasn’t stopped it becoming a cornerstone of cinema. The Shining is continually held in high regard for its stunning visual style, masterful direction, and captivating performances.
