Outkast, Cyndi Lauper, Salt-N-Pepa, The White Stripes and more introduced at 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony

LOS ANGELES — The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame celebrated the class of 2025 at a music-filled induction ceremony on Saturday night.

Soundgarden was one of the bands celebrated during this year’s induction ceremony. The honor comes more than eight years after the death of lead vocalist Chris Cornell.

“I was born and raised, still live in Seattle, so they’re our heroes. Everybody from my city, we think that Soundgarden is just foundational and so important to rock and roll,” said singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile.

Also inducted were longtime rockers Bad Company.

“What is the magic of Bad Company that now makes you members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?” Entertainment Guru George Pennacchio asked on the red carpet.

“You know, a simple, solid, straightforward, no frills rock and roll,” drummer Simon Kirke said.

“These artists spend their whole lives, their whole careers, to be here on this stage this night. It’s something that they know only few get to be honored, kind of like Cooperstown in baseball and Canton, Ohio, for football. It truly is music’s highest honor,” John Sykes said.

The White Stripes were also inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, plus Outkast, Chubby Checker, and, among others, Salt-N-Pepa.

“As women in hip-hop, a male-dominated field, and in the ’80s, this was a little testy. I wasn’t sure about this,” said Pepa, whose real name is Sandra Denton. “And this is, to make it here, category, OK! I feel great.”

The late Joe Cocker was also inducted.

“His music was a part of the soundtrack of our household growing up, and I just think a huge influence on a lot of artists,” singer-songwriter Nathaniel Rateliff said.

Also celebrated was Cyndi Lauper, who now adds Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member to her impressive resume of music.

“I stand on the shoulders of all the women that came before me. And my shoulders are wide enough for the younger ones to stand on. And that’s what’s exciting about this evening,” Lauper said.

You can see the entire Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony streaming now on Disney+. ABC is also putting together a special that will air on New Year’s Day.
