The advent of apps like Tinder and Grindr has completely changed how we meet and interact with potential love interests. 25 years ago, we’d meet at a bookstore or a coffee shop, or maybe via mutual friends. Now, most single folks instead doomscroll through countless profiles in search of a love connection. The new Tubi original horror film Match is weaponizing that tendency with outrageous results. Fans are absolutely losing their minds, with some loving the disturbing depths of depravity the film descends into, and others reporting they couldn’t even sit through it.
There’s one scene in particular involving a mousetrap that has fans in an absolute uproar. The setup for the scene is pretty sensational and will likely pack a greater punch if you’re unaware of what’s coming, so I won’t say anything more than that so as not to spoil the shock that awaits the uninitiated.
In Match, after Paola (Humberly González) is paired with a handsome online suitor, she arrives for a first date to discover a house full of dark and terrifying secrets.
Now, I don’t want you to simply have to take my word for how shocking Match is, dear reader. I’d rather present to you a series of social media responses that echo that sentiment and give you an idea of what you’re really in for.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll run straight toward Match to see what all of the fuss is about after reading the reactions below. However, if you’re easily disturbed, the sentiments may have you thinking twice before taking the film in.
Here’s what fans have to say about Match:

After reading those reactions, you’re probably wondering about the twisted minds behind Match? Who could be responsible for such grotesqueries? Well, I’ll tell you. Danishka Esterhazy helmed the project, with Al Kaplan and Jon Kaplan assuming writing duties. The creative team is accomplished. This isn’t their first rodeo. The Kaplan brothers are responsible for the delightfully campy horror-comedy Zombeavers, and Esterhazy directed the exceptional Slumber Party Massacre reboot, which bowed in 2021. Both Zombeavers and Slumber Party Massacre have a brilliant sense of humor, which explains why many are praising Match for its decidedly dark comedic undertones.
If you’re curious to see what all of the fanfare is about, you should make your way over to Tubi and give the film a shot. It’s a platform original, so it should live on the site for the foreseeable future.
If you decide to watch the film, make sure to let us know how it sat with you by sharing your thoughts in the comments!
