PROSPECT PARK, Pa. (WPVI) — Five people were injured after police say a Corvette driver caused several crashes along the Chester Pike in Delaware County on Monday.
Surveillance footage from a local business captured a Corvette speeding down Chester Pike near Summit Avenue in Prospect Park around 9:45 a.m.
You can then see another car go careening off the road – crashing into a window and landing on its side.
It happened right outside of Rich Dellabarba’s apartment.
“I looked out the window and I could hear the woman screaming,” he said.
A total of seven cars were impacted, including two that were parked in a used car lot.
Five drivers were taken to the hospital but somehow all made it out alive and with no critical injuries.
“I saw the Corvette and I thought for sure someone probably passed away,” Dellabara recalled.

“When we arrived there was two people that needed to be extracted from their vehicle. As you can see we had to use saws and jaws of life to remove one person,” Prospect Park Chief Dave Madonna told Action News.
Police say the cause of the crash is still under investigation but they believe erratic driving played a role.
The car that crashed into the building also struck a gas line – which was shut off quickly.

“Gas was pouring out of that building so obviously safety to the community is our number one job and we had to make sure that we had that gas line shut off before it really could have been catastrophic,” Chief Madonna said.
The owners of Alpha Home Improvement are grateful nobody was at the office when it happened.
“I got a picture sent to me of the car overturned in front of the window,” co-owner Jennifer Diawara said. “I was very shocked, scared because I wanted to make sure everything was okay.”
“I’m just glad that everybody’s okay. It’s something that we’re just gonna have to deal with,” her husband and co-owner Alpha Diawara said.
The case is now with the Delaware County District Attorney’s office which will determine whether criminal charges are warranted.
