After being bumped from its original November 7 release date, Bloober Team’s subsidiary Broken Mirror Games has confirmed a January 29 launch for Skybound’s I Hate This Place. In addition, fans also get a new story trailer that gives players a quick taste of the twisted tale taking place on Rutherford Ranch.
Per the press release, the release date change was given to allow developer Rock Square Thunder more time to better incorporate some changes and features gathered from community feedback.
“We had a lot of good feedback gathered from events like PAX, Gamescom, Tokyo Gameshow, and then from our recent public demo on Steam,” explains Game Director Janusz Tarczykowski, Rock Square Thunder. “The vision for the game stays the same, but this feedback highlighted a few tweaks or features that would really help the game feel just that much better. As we got closer and closer to release, we had to keep moving many of these additions to post-launch support. But we feel the game deserves to make a good first impression so we rethought things and together with Broken Mirror Games decided to move the date to January 2026.”
Janus acknowledged that this was a last-minute switch for fans, but given the game’s multiplatform launch, the extra few weeks of implementing the changes and testing them was necessary.
Inspired by Skybound’s Eisner Award-nominated comic book series of the same name created by writer Kyle Starks and artist Artyom Topilin, players in I Hate This Place take on the role of Elena, whose fight for survival begins when she and her friend unwittingly summon a malevolent force known as The Horned Man. Outmatched and hunted in a hostile world, players will need to stay vigilant, loot their surroundings, and pick their battles carefully against formidable foes, many of which hunt you by sound.
I Hate This Place will be coming to PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch.
