Let This Grieving Soul Retire 2nd Cour Adds Himika Akaneya to Voice Cast

Voice actress Himika Akaneya has been cast for the ongoing second cour of the Let This Grieving Soul Retire TV anime series. The anime’s second cour began streaming early on the d Anime Store and ABEMA services on October 4, 2025, while the TV broadcast began airing in Japan on October 6, 2025. 

Akaneya voices the character Ryuulan, who will debut in the 18th overall episode (fifth episode of the second cour).

She joins the anime’s main voice cast that stars: 

  • • Kensho Ono as Krai Andrey
  • • Miyu Kubota as Tino Shade
  • • Fairouz Ai as Liz Smart
  • • Konomi Kohara as Sitri Smart 
  • • Kohei Amasaki as Luke Sykol 
  • • Tomokazu Sugita as Ansem Smart and Narrator
  • • Aoi Koga as Lucia Rogier

Masahiro Takata (The Family Circumstances of the Irregular Witch, The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World) is directing the anime series, with Hideki Shirane (The Duke of Death and His Maid, Date A Live Season 1 to 3) as screenwriter, and Yusuke Isochi (Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It) and Shingo Fujisaki (Skip and Loafer Episode 4 co-animation director, Undead Murder Farce Episode 3, 4, and 13 co-animation director) as character designers. ZERO-G is in charge of the animation production. 

The first cour premiered early on select Japanese streaming services on September 29, 2024 and began its TV broadcast on October 1, 2024. It aired for 13 total episodes. Crunchyroll, Muse Asia, and bilibili streamed the series overseas, outside of Japan. 

The original light novel series is written by Tsukikage and illustrated by Chyko. It was first published by Micro Magazine’s GC Novels label on August 30, 2018 and has released 13 volumes as of September 2025, including a short story collection. J-Novel Club is publishing the light novel series in English digitally after Sol Press’ license for the series expired in 2021.

The series began as a web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro on January 27, 2018 and has also inspired a 2019 manga by Rai Hebino. Yen Press releases the manga adaptation in English for North America.

Crunchyroll is streaming the second cour of Let This Grieving Soul Retire and describes the main premise of the series as: 

Six childhood friends make a vow one day to become treasure hunters, and eventually grow to be the strongest heroes in the world. During his first quest, Krai Andrey realizes he isn’t cut out for the job. Even so, his friends make him their leader. Underpowered in the face of great expectations, Krai embarks on a reluctant hero’s tale of glory, headaches, and wanting to retire early.
