Bieber, making his first World Series start, gave up four hits and struck out three in five and one third innings. After he exited with two runners on, rookie Mason Fluharty got out of the jam on three pitches. Chris Bassitt and Louis Varland finished the final three innings.

Toronto broke open the game with a four-run seventh inning. Daulton Varsho singled and Ernie Clement doubled to chase Ohtani, who was pitching on barely a day’s rest after reaching base nine times in Game 3. Andrés Giménez delivered an RBI single off reliever Anthony Banda, Ty France drove in another run on a groundout and Bo Bichette and Addison Barger added RBI singles off Blake Treinen for a 6-1 lead.

Ohtani allowed six hits and four runs in six-plus innings with six strikeouts and one walk. He went 0 for 3 with a walk at the plate. The Dodgers have scored three runs across the last 20 innings dating to late in Game 3.

Kiké Hernández’s sacrifice fly in the second scored Max Muncy to put Los Angeles ahead early before Toronto responded.

The Game 4 victory guarantees the World Series will return to Toronto for Game 6 on Friday night.

Game 5 is Wednesday at Dodger Stadium, with Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell (3-1, 2.42 ERA) facing Blue Jays rookie Trey Yesavage (2-1, 4.26).
