Sound! Euphonium, The Final Movie Part 1 Gets Trailer, Visual, April 24 Premiere

Next year’s Sound! Euphonium, The Final Movie Part 1 has received a trailer, key visual, and the announcement of an April 24 JST release date. It’ll open in 200 locations across Japan.

The trailer’s video description confirms a rewritten scenario and the addition of new scenes for this “theatrical version” of 2024’s Sound! Euphonium Season 3. Fans of the series’ band performances can expect band scenes that weren’t in TV anime.

The Sound! Euphonium, The Final Movie Part 1 (Saishuu Gakushou Hibike! Euphonium Zenpen) reveals come the day after Kyoto Animation announced a 2026 release date for its new anime Sparks of Tomorrow (20 Seiki Denki Mokuroku/ 20th Century Electricity Catalog).

Sound! Euphonium Season 3 saw protagonist Kumiko dealing with the challenge of leading the Kitauji High School band and handling the appearance of transfer student Mayu, who’s also a third-year euphonium player like herself. The show concluded the Sound! Euphonium anime adaptation that begun with 2015’s first season.

Sound! Euphonium is inspired by the Takarajimasha-published novel series by Ayano Takeda, the first volume of which Yen Press describes as such:

After a terrible disappointment at the All-Kyoto Concert Band Competition, music has lost its spark for Kumiko. But her first year at Kitauji High School is a chance for a fresh start. So when it comes time to choose a club, she can’t resist joining the band again–even though they’re simply terrible. The strict new club director has promised to whip them into shape to reach Nationals, but the trouble runs deeper than just a lack of practice. Plus, the discord within the club tugs at Kumiko’s old insecurities. Will Kitauji High School find its rhythm before the competition? Will Kumiko?

Beyond the three TV seasons, the prior anime installments include theatrical versions of the first two seasons, the Liz and the Blue Bird spin-off film, 2019’s Sound! Euphonium: Chikai no Finale movie, and the 2023 theatrical OVA Sound! Euphonium: Ensemble Contest

The book series began in 2013 and has seven main volumes as of 2019. A new short story anthology titled Sound! Euphonium: Kitauji Koukou Suisougakubu no Minna no Hanashi was released in 2024.
