With nuanced character development and poignant dialogue, the screenplay brings fresh life to the classic s tale, exploring like never before the fractured relationship between creator and creation.
Frankenstein is in select theaters now and will arrive on Netflix November 7.
It stars Oscar Isaac (Dune) as Victor Frankenstein, Jacob Elordi (Saltburn) as Frankenstein’s monster, Mia Goth (MaXXXine) as Elizabeth Lavenza, and Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds) as Dr. Pretorius.
Felix Kammerer (All Quiet on the Western Front), Lars Mikkelsen (“Ahsoka”), David Bradley (Harry Potter), Christian Convery (“Sweet Tooth”), Ralph Ineson (The Witch), and Charles Dance (“Game of Thrones”) round out the cast.
Meagan Navarro wrote in her review, “There’s no question that Frankenstein is absolutely breathtaking, with imagery and set pieces that instantly embed themselves in your memory. It showcases del Toro’s strength as a filmmaker, creating immersive worlds that enhance what he does best: championing monsters and their tragic humanity instead of using them to scare us.”
